How to File a Taxotere Claim
If your chemotherapy drug regimen included Taxotere® (docetaxel), you may experience permanent hair loss. Taxotere chemotherapy treats breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, advanced stomach cancer, head and neck cancer or metastatic prostate cancer. Patients with no significant hair regrowth after completing chemotherapy are now eligible to file a Taxotere claim.
Medical Studies Link Permanent Hair Loss to Taxotere
Since its approval by the Food and Drug Administration in 1996, medical studies found 9.2% of cancer patients treated with Taxotere suffered permanent hair loss. To clarify, permanent hair loss (also known as alopecia) persisted for at least six months after patients completed chemotherapy. That’s significantly higher than the 3% rate initially touted by Sanofi in leaflets sent to health care providers. And yet another 2014 UK study found that 10-15% of Taxotere patients suffered permanent hair loss. In fact, some study subjects reported symptoms lasting more than a decade. Even more surprising is the fact that Sanofi warned about the risk for permanent alopecia in all countries except the United States.
Taxotere Claim Filings Now Pending Against Sanofi Nationwide
Despite knowing about Taxotere’s permanent hair loss risks, Sanofi marketed its medication as superior over other taxane-based chemo drugs like Taxol (paclitaxel) for nearly two decades. Then in December 2015, the FDA updated Taxotere’s warning label to inform consumers about alopecia risks. As a result, cancer patients with permanent Taxotere hair loss are now suing Sanofi. Since these cases were filed within the past year, no settlements have yet been made. However, other injured patients can file a Taxotere claim to get the justice and compensation they deserve.
