Illinois Testosterone Gel Lawsuits Consolidated

Men are suing testosterone gel manufacturers after suffering heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular issues. In U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois, a federal judicial panel approved MDL consolidation for testosterone gel lawsuits. The June 6, 2014 transfer order noted that U.S. District Judge Matthew F. Kelley will preside over the Illinois testosterone gel lawsuits.

Illinois Testosterone Gel Lawsuits May Climb Even Higher Before MDL Trial

The order consolidates 45 lawsuits claiming low-T treatment causes serious as well as life-threatening cardiac events. Additionally, the order stated there are still 82 pending lawsuits in other federal districts. Plaintiffs believe these lawsuits will climb at least into the thousands.

The panel chose to create an industry-wide multidistrict litigation because many cases involve more than one medication. In fact, the Northern District of Illinois already holds most claims filed in that district. Additionally, Judge Matthew Kennelly was already presiding over other Illinois low testosterone lawsuits. What’s more, Judge Kennelly already took the first steps required to organize the litigation.
